Family Virtual Visits

Family Virtual Visits (FVV), a service of AgeServe Communications, LLC, enables residents in senior residential communities, as well as those able to go to senior centers, to see and Visit with their families no matter where they live in the world!

How it works

At the Community: Family Virtual Visits is completely turnkey for communities, automatic and hands-free for residents and staff and totally supported for family members. FVV installs a state of the art Virtual Visiting Center in a common area of the community with a big screen TV monitor, cameras, echo-canceling microphones, electronics, cabinetry and lighting. FVV remotely monitors, maintains, and makes upgrades and replacements as necessary. Family members sign up for the service via the FVV web site www.familyvirtualvisits.com/free to register and to use the service for free. Family members make their own appointments via our proprietary scheduling system during Virtual Visiting hours, which are set by the community. At the appointed time, the family member logs into our web site to connect. The senior just needs to be sitting in front of the monitor and the Virtual Visit begins and ends automatically! No staff interaction is needed other than to assist the senior if needed.

It’s that easy!

For Family Members: Family members only need a PC, a high-speed Internet connection (either DSL or cable) and a web cam with headset. FVV offers set-up and total support to family members, making the service trouble-free for anybody, even those with limited skills. FVV is a powerful market differentiator for communities, showing that it offers something special, and that it is indeed “state-of-the-art” even if the building has older bricks and mortar. Families separated from their beloved seniors choose FVV communities because the whole family can stay connected!

For Residents: It’s as easy as watching TV, only better, because their own children, grand children and great grand children are the stars of the show! Distance and today’s busy lifestyles can lead to fewer and fewer face-to-face visits. With FVV, residents can visit with their loved ones wherever they are, anyplace in the world.

Special Services:

FVV provides powerful management tools for community operators through special services we have engineered and pioneered. These help the community to increase and maintain its census, decrease underwriting risk, and mitigate potential liability.

Tour Demos: Provides the WOW factor to a community’s marketing tours. When prospective residents and their families are touring the community, even without a prior reservation, the front desk staff can call FVV with a request for a live demo of the service. One of our staff will dial into the Virtual Visiting Center and speak directly with the family. Communities have found this to be a tremendous marketing tool

Remote Assessments: Many operators are faced with assessing a prospective resident from far away, or on an emergency basis. Operators often contract with a distant agent, send their own staff cross-country, or rely on written assessments alone in making critical admissions decisions. Now the operator can assess them Virtually over the FVV service. We work with assessment personnel to get distant family hooked up. We can even record these sessions for their files, giving the operator a permanent record.

Face-to-Face Care Conferences: Regular Care Planning Conferences are mandated by law for certain residents. FVV enables the care staff to communicate more fully and involve more family members in the care planning process and document the conference

Social Connectedness is Critical!

Not only do residents love seeing their families more often, recent clinical studies show that remaining connected to loved ones can even diminish the symptoms of Alzheimer’s and dementia:

“Social networks ( as measured by the number of family and friends seen once a month) seem to offer a “protective reserve” capacity that spares [seniors] the clinical manifestations of Alzheimer’s disease.” David A. Bennett MD, Rush University Alzheimer’s Disease Center Research, 2005, as reported in Lancet, May, 2006
